It also seems like package 0.99.6 does not compile as the updated version. I've removed the file stopped apache, edited the php.ini to remove the file restarted apache. And recompiled and stopped apache and modified the php.ini. And it still reports 4-20-09 version.

How did you compile it? from cvs, using pecl install oauth, or download a release, uncompress, phpize,...?
[2009-04-22 17:56 UTC] challgren at hallgrennetwork dot com
I downloaded the package untared it and then ran phpize and ./configure
[2009-04-23 03:01 UTC] pierre dot php at gmail dot com
that's why the version is not set. It is replaced during the installation phase (replacing @PACKAGE_VERSION@ with the real version).
[2009-04-23 03:02 UTC] pierre dot php at gmail dot com
when you use "pecl install oauth"
[2009-04-23 04:31 UTC] challgren at hallgrennetwork dot com
Ok so I removed the extension and ran pecl install oauth-0.99.6 and it still shows the same information in phpinfo(). Here is my pecl install oauth-0.99.6

Libraries have been installed in:

If you ever happen to want to link against installed libraries
in a given directory, LIBDIR, you must either use libtool, and
specify the full pathname of the library, or use the `-LLIBDIR'
flag during linking and do at least one of the following:
   - add LIBDIR to the `LD_LIBRARY_PATH' environment variable
     during execution
   - add LIBDIR to the `LD_RUN_PATH' environment variable
     during linking
   - use the `-Wl,--rpath -Wl,LIBDIR' linker flag
   - have your system administrator add LIBDIR to `/etc/'

See any operating system documentation about shared libraries for
more information, such as the ld(1) and manual pages.

Build complete.
Don't forget to run 'make test'.
