There should be an APC object so we can use OO style to interact with this extension.

It would be very helpful so we can write our own classes that extend APC

Ideally the methods will have the same names/signatures as in Memcache and/or Memcached classes, at least the most common methods like get(), set(), replace(), delete(), flush()

Having the same names and signatures will make it easy to write applications that can choose the cache system and still implement the same interface

Why not just create a simple wrapper in PHP code that can do this for you with the exact implementation you want?  I think this would be much more powerful and flexible than implementing this in C.
