I tried install of haru.so
but I could not install from pecl command.

There is a problem in configure, and 
I think that there is a problem in '--with-zlib-dir' and '--with-png-dir'

FAIL:
pecl install haru

FAIL:
tar -zxvf http://pecl.php.net/get/haru
cd haru
phpize
configure --with-haru=$HOME --with-zlib-dir=/usr --with-png-dir=/usr

PASS:
tar -zxvf http://pecl.php.net/get/haru
cd haru
phpize
configure --with-haru=$HOME --with-zlib-dir=/usr --with-png-dir=/usr LDFLAGS="-lpng -lz"
make
make install

Same problem to me. In config.m4, line 18:
SEARCH_PATH="/usr/local/ /usr/"

This path is not splitted in for loop, against
test -r "/usr/local/ /usr/include/hpdf.h" is done in ./configure.

But ./configure --with-haru="/usr/local/" works fine and pecl installation works fine too.

pecl install haru
Please provide the prefix of libharu installation [autodetect] : /usr/local/

I tested that SVN works, but 'pecl install haru' does not... I'm not familiar enough with the 'pecl' 
command to do more, but it looks fine now.
