To prevent spam bugs (spugs? ;-) posted through the "Report new bug" form such as :

there is a need for a CAPTCHA mechanism as on the "add comment" bug form.

However, bertrand Gugger mentioned on pear-dev a problem with PEAR's CAPTCHA images and screen readers :
(looks like the "add comment" captcha is non-screen-reader-compliant in this regard. Neither is the "Request account" one...)

What about a non-graphical CAPTCHA as experimented in Phorum :,54054

Hummm... not an easy one ;-)

I tend to believe an alternative way would be to request a mail confirmation, as when you subscribe to a list.

I will add a non visual captcha (plain text, readable) while changing the other captchas.

Added new numeral captcha, see public_html/bugs/include/NumeralCaptcha.php for more details.
