I'm trying to make our db abstraction class to work with PDO. The only problem I have found so far, is that getColumnMeta is a little to much for what we need. We try to cast every result obtained from the db as the correspondent php native type (or a custom class, in the case of a datetime). Maybe it could be useful if there was a method that only returns the native type (and avoids all the extra work needed to find everything else).
