When you try to retrieve a LONG field or ntext field in
MSSQL, PHP simply crashes.

I have found a workaround by issuing a SET TEXTSIZE nnnn
before the select, but this is a MSSQL specific call and
therefore undermines the whole ODBC concept.

I should be able to use the ODBC functions against ANY ODBC
compliant database and since I have ODBC drivers for MSSQL
and am able to setup a System DSN and access it thru PHP, I
should be able to access the data the same as if it were
MSAccess or Oracle or Sybase etc.

This needs to be fixed. I can access LONG fields in other
databases without any problem.

Please verify that it?s still happening using the latest version of PHP (release 4.0.1pl2 or CVS).
