After installation when I type:
C:>php -version

I get the error:
"CLI has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience."

I get this message 6 times before my cursor returns.

More information on the error reveals:
AppName: php.exe	 AppVer: 5.3.2.0	 ModName: php5ts.dll
ModVer: 5.3.2.0	 Offset: 000e6d2c

do:

php -n -v 

if it works, that means you are loading extensions with missing dependencies. Open your php.ini and verify which extension it loads.
