I'm desperately trying to compile php 3.0.

./configure alway says, that dbm-support ist not available on my system, although the library is installed, e.g /usr/local/lib/libgdbm.a

when i run make, it tries to compile the build in flatfile-support, but comes out with a bunch of error-message in db.c

See the FAQ for how to tell configure to look in
directories like /usr/local. Search for "LDFLAGS".
