I'm sorry I don't have a full list of helpful information available right now, must leave here no time...

But the microtime.c compile fails -- I've seen this reported on other newsgroups as well -- compiling using DSO and Apache 1.3.12 w/Sybase

But, compile is totally successful using PHP 4.0b3 !

This probably is a known problem by now... if not let me know and I will provide more extensive details.

Have you tried a more recent release of PHP?  If so, does the problem still occur?
