My configuration is

                    php4.0RC2

                    apache1.3.12

                    Red Hat Linux 6.1 i686

Following the instructions in

        README.SELF-CONTAINED-EXTENSIONS

fails because the script

        phpize

is broken. It calls

        libtoolize

which doesn't exist. This is easily reproducible

You need to install libtool from ftp://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/libtool/

Thank you for using PHP.
