Description:
------------
This is a feature request.

The DOM extension currently offers no easy way of accessing the original line numbers of nodes. While I understand that the DOM specification currently defines no way of retrieving such data, I believe the benefits of a proprietary property far outweigh the possible interoperability concerns.

It should be noted that libxml already contains this functionality, and line numbers are accessible via saxon:line-number() (this was fixed in Bug #34103). Theoretically, it is possible to retrieve this information by running the document through a special EXSLT stylesheet and then cross-referencing with the output: this strikes me as quite overkill.
