In the files ext/standard/file.c and ext/standard/streamfuncs.c, the error message "Failed to seek to %ld position in the stream." is awkward.  The message should say:

Failed to seek to position %ld in the stream.

This bug has been fixed in CVS.

Snapshots of the sources are packaged every three hours; this change
will be in the next snapshot. You can grab the snapshot at
