I wonder if the checkdate function can respect the  
international standard for his parameters (YYYY-MM-DD) not  
the relic from the dark ages when Roman numerals were used, 
like used in the USA. USA relic of the past ?

Changing this breaks hundreds of applications, this is not going to happen.
