i am using apache 1.3.9 and php4.0b3.
all apache modules compiled as shared object.

mod_auth_dbm wont work if i load libphp4.so but does
if i load libphp3 (php3.0.14).

i compiled both php versions with 
--enable-versioning

Try upgrading to a 4.0.1pl2 or better and open
a new bug if you are still having problems.
