In downloading and installing PHP 3.0.13 for Win98 running PWS, I wasted an enormous amount of time because I could not access the "PHP 3.0.13 source" link from the downloads section (http://www.php.net/distributions/php-3.0.13.tar.gz). I almost registered a bug as I found no help anywhere and assumed the necessary .ini file was not appropriately supplied. Windows users unaccustomed to dealing with .tar.gz files may find this problematic and register bugs unnecessarily or give up and resort to ASP. The fix is simple, just add a link for Windows users informing them that they need to associate all files with extension .gz in Explorer with their zip utility. Such a link would have saved me 45 minutes.
