The manual at 
www.php.net/manual/en/function.mysql-list-fields.php
says:

"mysql_list_fields -- List MySQL result fields"

but I think this incorrect since the next line says

"mysql_list_fields() retrieves information about the given tablename." [i.e, not a result fields]
