If you try to use the function ldap_get_values_len, which is documented in the PDF manual, you get the following response:
"Call to unsupported or undefined function ldap_get_values_len()"
This function is absolutely needed if the LDAP server exports binary values!

This is a new function in 3.0.13 which AFAIK will be released any time now. 
The manual is a little ahead of its time.
