1.3.6 module under Linux 2.2.10. The php script is fetching the files with
But if I try to use php-3.0.12 or even php-4.0b2, ONLY THE FIRST ~1400 BYTES ARE

I created a test script containing only the readfile(), build php-3.0.5,
php-3.0.12 and php-4.0b2 with the same configuration switches and the same
php3.ini/php.ini, and it happened exactly the same:
php-3.0.5 is getting the whole file,
php-3.0.12 and php-4.0b2 getting only ~1500 bytes.

The mentioned webserver is not public accessible, but I can run a copy of it for some time for debugging purposes if desired.
my configure line:
./configure --enable-track-vars --without-gd --without-ttf --with-config-file-path=.
php3.ini is the original -dist version.
