the code fragment

<?php
 $x = preg_split("/[ \t]/", "hello there");
 echo "first=", $x[0], " second=", $x[1], "\n";
?>

works on solaris but not on windows binary distribution
the error message is:
Fatal error: Call to unsupported or undefined function preg_split() in D:\InetPub\scripts\nmtool\nmtool.php3 on line 2

It would appear that the regular expression functions
are not available in the windows binary distribution.

phpinfo says
Regular Expressions Bundled regex library enabled

The php3.ini file is the same as the example in the
distribution except for the extension_dir setting.

Thank you for taking the time to report a problem with PHP.
Unfortunately, PHP 3 is no longer supported. Please download
the latest version of PHP 4 from http://www.php.net/downloads.php

If you are able to reproduce the bug with one of the latest
versions of PHP, please change the PHP version on this bug report
to the version you tested and change the status back to "Open".
Again, thank you for your continued support of PHP.
