The following code will crash with *some*
dbf files. The dbf can be found
at the US census site: Congressional districts
for the entire US=cd99_108.zip

<?php

$dbname="......./cd99_108.dbf";
$db=dbase_open($dbname,0);
//$db is good 
$nf=dbase_numfields($db);
//$nf=8
$rec=dbase_get_record($db,1);//crashes here
dbase_close($db);
