I can't get sessions to work properly on 4.2.2,4.2.3 & 4.3.1 on Debian Linux 3.0 (2.4.18). I've read 16043 and it seems to describe my problem very well, but it's closed saying it's fixed in 4.2/4.3. I've reviewed as many other similar prob reports as possible to no avail.

I've tried all the permutations / combinations in 16043.

I get sessions created and session files (sess_) created in /tmp and the contents look fine etc. But if I edit the appropriate sess_ file to change a value it isn't reflected back in the web app on refresh.

I'm just compiling straight from source with minimum configure options. ./configure --with-apxs .

Sorry, but your problem does not imply a bug in PHP itself. For a
list of more appropriate places to ask for help using PHP, please
visit http://www.php.net/support.php as this bug system is not the
appropriate forum for asking support questions.

Thank you for your interest in PHP.

Session really work fine, you\'re probably not using them correctly. Write to the php-general@lists.php.net mailinglist and explain how you\'re using them. They can point out the problems.
