The configure script is not taking --with-db3=shared,dir.

It works fine if I take out the "shared" or if I modify the configure script and add the DB3 directory to line 16771:
for i in /usr/local /usr /usr/local/BerkeleyDB.3.0 $withval; do

In my specifc case, DB3 is installed at /usr/local/BerkeleyDB, so I the line above is:
 for i in /usr/local /usr /usr/local/BerkeleyDB.3.0 /usr/local/BerkeleyDB $withval; do

But for sure you guys just have to fix the variable $with_db3
