i looked through the sapi code which seems to be right, it might be related to the apache version i'm using (2.0.39). i'll test this asap.

There have been a couple of reports of Apache 2.0.x sending its chunk headers incorrectly.  One was triggered by PHP running as a CGI.  I'm 99% sure this is a bug in Apache2.

closing this. i'll reopen if it will turn out to be a php issue, which most likely won't happen.
