I'm working on a script to administrate half-life servers.

When I try to dump a rules list, which consists of more then approx. 80 rules ( 1 Rule = 2 strings of about 20 and 3 chars ), the PHP script dies and waits forever.

The same problem when I do a players dump and there are more than 16 players on a server.

The fsockopen() and socket-functions don't seem too reliable, is there any possibility that this will change in the next versions?

Please try using this CVS snapshot:

  http://snaps.php.net/php4-latest.tar.gz

For Windows:

  http://snaps.php.net/win32/php4-win32-latest.zip

Are your sockets using the sockets extension, or the native fsockopen calls?
We can't really help unless you supply us with a self-contained script that illustrates the problem.
Please try a snapshot (for the up and coming 4.3 release),
and if you still experience problems, post a script that we can use to find out the cause.
