Note that the string is "chopped" off at 'McCarthy' but by 
any sane definition (by us humans) there is 'plenty' of room 
in the given rectangle for the text.

I can provide more examples of the same kind of broken-ness.

Look at the Bob Dylan tribute concert (July 26th) at the URL 
referenced, or the 21st (McCarthy) or the 19th (McCarthy 
again)...

It seems to be a combination of the string and the 
rectangle, as near as I can figger...   I mean, it works 
*most* of the time... :-^

Thank you for taking the time to report a problem with PHP.
Unfortunately your are not using a current version of PHP -- 
the problem might already be fixed. Please download a new
PHP version from http://www.php.net/downloads.php

If you are able to reproduce the bug with one of the latest
versions of PHP, please change the PHP version on this bug report
to the version you tested and change the status back to "Open".
Again, thank you for your continued support of PHP.

I tested with PDFlib 4.0.2 and your script works fine.
(all of the text shown) So update that..
