Environment was Solaris 2.5.1, Apache 1.2.5 +PHP2.0+PHP3.0b6

Using PTS 1.72.00/PHP3 with mySQL

regex libs were not matched between PHP and Apache. Setting
WANTHSREGEX=yes
in Apache's Configuration file cleared up the problem.
