Hi, 
My plateform is Sun Ultra-10, OS is Solaris 8, Apache1.3.24, PHP-4.2.0 and compiled with OpenSSL & ModSSL.

After finished all the setup steps. I can see the phpinfo() page and it showed all the stuffs. While I executed my php programs, the session file could be generated and all the values were stored. BUT AFTER I switch to next pages, ALL the session values were EMPTY, Why?????

I put all the same php programs on the other plateform with RedHat 6.2 Linux, Apache1.3.14 & PHP-4.0.4, IT WORKED VERY WELL!!

WHY ??? & Thanx a lot !!

Actually this is a bug on non-intel platforms. atleast, maybe. I saw such thing reproduced on Linux/sparc @ LT. (Hakan knows more and is going to file a report).

Similar symptoms on Apache/ModSSL upgrade on same box
Box: 280-R (sun4u) 2x4 

Working Config (port 89):
Solaris 8, 
Apache 1.3.23, ModSSL 2.8.7, 
OpenSSL 0.9.6c, PHP 4.2.1

NonWorking Config (port 890):
Solaris 8, Apache 1.3.26, ModSSL 2.8.10, 
OpenSSL 0.9.6d, PHP 4.2.1

Reproducable sample:

Ist it possible that you have register_globals off?

Try

session_register("normal");

register_globals is off on both cases.

However, $_SESSION["normal"] does work for the listed
reproducable sample. Verifying with 'real' app...

As with version 4.2.3 this problems seems to be gone.
At least on my machine: UltraSparc10 debian/sparc linux
unstable/testing.
