I have apache 1.3.24 running on linux 2.4.17. I installed php 4.2.1 with the following commands:

./configure --with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs
make
(as root) make install

When using standard forms, the variables from the form do not carry to the next php when the form is submitted. The problem appears to be only in 4.2.1; when I installed 4.1.2, the behavior is normal.

In PHP 4.2.0, the 'register_globals' setting default changed to
be off. See http://www.php.net/release_4_2_0.php for more info.
We are sorry about the inconvenience, but this change was a necessary
part of our efforts to make PHP scripting more secure and portable.
