Straigtforward ./configure --with-apxs=/opt/httpd/bin/apxs.
Configure completes without complaining, but make produces the error:
zend.h:55: unix.h: No such file or directory

Noticed during configure that grep was complaining about not being able to open conftest.out

Next time search the database, this bug already has been reported the X%#@#th time.

Use CC=gcc ./configure <your options>

This bug has been fixed in CVS. You can grab a snapshot of the
CVS version at http://snaps.php.net/. In case this was a documentation 
problem, the fix will show up soon at http://www.php.net/manual/.
In case this was a PHP.net website problem, the change will show

The CC=gcc does not work for me either.  I have tried the latest builds and about 3 or 4 workarounds -- still can;t get it to work.
