When using "php3_open_basedir /somepath_with_symlink" in the virtual host section of apache's httpd.conf, access
to files within this path (e.g. fopen) is not possible. When specifying this path without the symlink, access to files is possible.

Extract from httpd.conf:
 <VirtualHost eule1.n-e-t.de:80>
 ...
 AddType application/x-httpd-php3 .php3
 Php3_Safe_Mode on
 ...
 Php3_Doc_Root /NET/www/eule1.n-e-t.de/doc
 Php3_Open_Basedir /NET/www/eule1.n-e-t.de/doc (NO ACCESS POSSIBLE)
  ( BUT)
 Php3_Open_Basedir /ldsk/fs4/www/eule1.n-e-t.de/doc (ACCESS POSSIBLE)
 ...
 </VirtualHost>

Configured Modules:
 mysql, apache

There is no php.ini file in use.

/NET is a symbolic link to /ldsk/fs4.

Before checking the basedir, all symlinks in the path being checked are removed. The [php3_]open_basedir config-option doesn't remove the symlinks so the paths will never match. I'll make the config-option remove the symlinks too so they will match.
