In 4.0.x, you could do something like:

<?
echo "hi"; //<does this echo hi?>
?>

and it would work fine.

In 4.1.0 this causes a parse error on the last line of the script.

Indeed, this is not a bug.

This hasn't changed in 4.1.0.
