if I have a field name longer than 31 characters, the 
odbc_field_name function cuts it to 31 characters.

There is really no way to extend this that I can see at this time.  The SQLColAttributes (which populates the field) requires the length to be passed to it.  

This may require a lot more hacking around to implement a longer version.  In the meantime I believe a simple hack of just making the odbc_result_value.name[32] to be a obdc_result_value.name[64] or some higher number.
