apache/php crashes when apache is installed via the rpm suggested in the INSTALL.REDHAT file and php is installed via the method suggested in the same file, minus the ldap support (./configure --with-apxs=/usr/bin/apxs --with-mysql). The problem occurs across a variety of mysql installation methods, but does not occur when apache and php are both compiled manually via the instructions in INSTALL.

To reproduce the crash, install the apache listed in the INSTALL.REDHAT file and then install php according to the instructions in the same file. Finally, download and try to install MOT-2, available from ftp://tomato.nvgc.vt.edu/pub/mot/mot-2.0.a4.tar.gz. The install will crash when you click on the 'Setup' button at the bottom of the 'MOT Setup' page.
