resource domxml_new_child (string name, string content)

it would be useful if the function handles also xml content, so that it's possible to incorporate a xml doc, without to have to dissasemble it

Just use xmldoc.  Then you can pull the root node and stick it somewhere else.  If that's not acceptable, reopen, and add more information about what exactly you want to be able to do.
