For every error I create in my code PHP says that the error 
is on line 1 (ex: parse error...on line 1).  What causes 
this? I installed PHP using the instructions povided for 
Mac OS X (client version) at the time of the 4.0.4pl1 
release (I am using Apache 1.3.19).

This is fixed in 4.0.6 (and maybe in 4.0.5).
