The System Configuration:
RedHat Linux 5.2
MySQL-3.22.16a-gamma-1 installed via RPMs (headers too)

The Configure Command:
./configure --with-mysql --with-apache=../apache_1.3.4 --enable-track-vars

The Command (via make):
gcc -g -O2 -O2 -I. -I. -I../apache_1.3.4/src/include -I../apache_1.3.4/src/os/unix -I/usr/local/include/mysql -c functions/mysql.c -o functions/mysql.o

The Result:
functions/mysql.c:84: mysql.h: No such file or directory
make: *** [functions/mysql.o] Error 1

The Hack:
cd /usr/local
ln -s ../../usr/include include

The Reason:
Red Hat RPMs install to /usr/include instead of /usr/local/include
