I'm using apache_1.3.3.tar.gz / php-3.0.5.tar.gz
and followed the instructions "quick install" on
http://www.php.net/manual/installation.php3

I think step 12 should be:
./configure --prefix=/www --activate-module=src/modules/php3/libphp3.module

instead of "src/modules/php3/libphp3.a"

Why is step 6 necessary ?? I do the same thing in step 12 again ?!?

The instructions are correct. Although libphp3.a doesn't exist when you run this command, you
are telling the Apache configuration process to create this file.

You have to perform step 6 so that the header files that are necessary for PHP3 to compile get
generated. Step 12 then integrates PHP3 into the Apache build process.
