the PHP function syslog() truncates messages at 500 characters. it should not truncate at all or the length at which truncation happens should be user definable.

Stas introduced that limitation while fixing a format string exploit, he probably knows best.

This bug has been fixed in CVS.

Snapshots of the sources are packaged every three hours; this change
