I would like to suggest that the Metaphone function be a little bit more flexible.  I have heard (from the manual) that it is partly based on some english language rules, would it be possible to send a text-file with these configurations, and change the file in php.ini, or maybe a file which can be changed prior to compiling?

Any of the two would be very useful for people in other countries...
