The DBM functions such as dbmfetch(), dbmreplace(), etc does not work in 4.0.3pl1 and 3.0.17.

I am using --with-gdbm and the functions worked perfectly in 3.0.16 and earlier 4.0 version.

GDBM are avalible thru dba_ functions though.

I don't know of PHP3 but in PHP4.0.3pl1 the db extension isn't
enabled by default anymore, you have to add --with-db into your 
configure line.

And you should submit the PHP3 related bug reports through:
http://bugs.php.net/bugs-php3.php
