i'm using php compiled as a module into Apache 1.3.14.

every so often, a php script would return an immediate EOF, resulting in a "document contains no data" error on Netscape and IE. a refresh returned the correct page. this problem was seemingly random, and not reproducable.

seperatly, i noticed that session temp files (sess_*) were not being cleaned up at all. rough observation indicated the EOF error ocuring roughly at the rate defined in session.gc_probability in php.ini. changing this value to 90 resulted in nearly every request for a document resulting in an immediate EOF, setting it to 0 results in normal operation (aside from no temp files being removed).

i have mysql support and am using the system regexp.

i believe this is the cause of the bug described in bug #7571.

I think this is fixed already. Please try latest snapshot from http://snaps.php.net
And that bug which left empty session files is fixed already.
