I compiled apache with the standard modules and:

mod_perl
php4

System information:

Slackware 3.6 linux box
kernel 2.2.13
gcc 2.7.2.3
i'd try with apache 1.3.9 and 1.3.12
mod_perl 1.21

Can you please download the latest snapshot of PHP from snaps.php.net and let us know if this still happens?

If problem still exist with latest snapshot (dated after 2000-12-04)
or PHP 4.0.4 reopen this bug report.
