I'm not sure if this counts as a bug, however compiling version php-4.0.1pl2 works OK on our server whereas php-4.0.3pl1 does not.

Here's the output:
[root@ns php-4.0.3pl1]# make
Making all in Zend
make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/local/src/php4/php-4.0.3pl1/Zend'
/bin/sh ../libtool --silent --mode=compile gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I..   -D
XML_BYTE_ORDER=12  -g -O2 -c zend-scanner.c
In file included from /usr/include/errno.h:36,
                 from zend-scanner.c:2619:
/usr/include/bits/errno.h:25: linux/errno.h: No such file or directory
make[1]: *** [zend-scanner.lo] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/src/php4/php-4.0.3pl1/Zend'
make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1

This error pretty clearly states that the problem is not
with PHP itself, but with your kernel headers...errno.h
is not in the correct place.
