In the documentation http://php.net/manual/es/simplexml.examples-basic.php in example #10 the code show:

    $puntuacion = $peliculas->pelicula[0]->addChild('puntuacion', 'Todos los públicos');
    $puntuacion->addAttribute('tipo', 'clasificación');

But the result don't have this new element created.

The English version have it correctly.

This bug has been fixed in the documentation's XML sources. Since the
online and downloadable versions of the documentation need some time
to get updated, we would like to ask you to be a bit patient.
