Hi,
  The c-client library used by the imap module provides a the foundation for nntp connection in much the same way as the imap connections.
I have modified the imap module to be an nntp module essentially by wholesale find and replace of "imap" to "nntp".
I would be happy to provide this code as a starting point for a complete nntp module. Many of the nntp specific features are not utilised.

I have aslo modified the "imp" web mail package to interface to nntp servers. It is currently in use connecting to a Newtsacep Collabra server.

We decided not to have a separate nntp module.
