I am using a standard installation of PHP 4.02 on a standard /usr/local install of Apache 1.3.12 and MySQL 3.22. I installed PHP 4.01pl2 just fine (after doing the patch to main.c). PHP 4.02 installed ok when I used the built in MySQL libraries. The ./configure script went all the through, but gave a warning that it couldn't find the libmysqlclient. I compiled PHP with xml, mysql, and track_vars.

Thanks,

John Newsom

Did you install MySQL from source, from RPM or not at all?

Could you paste the appriopriate piece of config.log and your configure line too?
We don't have enough information at this point.
