There's something obviously wrong with your system:
/Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/include/php/php-
5.3.1/php/main/php.h: No such file or directory

`php-config --includes` says that PHP headers are in /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/include/php/php-
5.3.1/, but they aren't.

thx for your hint, my symlinks pointed incorrectly... i 
fixed them but the make still fails with the following 
output (still a system prob?):
