using spidermonkey.googlecode.com/files/libmozjs-1.9.2-4.tar.bz2 configured with

  --enable-threadsafe --enable-jit --enable-readline --with-pthreads --with-system-nspr

php stalls on entry into JS_NewRuntime

Reproduce code:

php -n -d extension_dir=modules -d extension=spidermonkey.so -r 'new jscontext;'
