I experienced the same problem reported in bug report #5488 on a sparc-solaris2.7 system using apache and a modular instance of php4.0.1pl2.

I found that at runtime, libphp4.so was looking for the libmysqlclient.so.6 in /usr/lib, rather than in the directory that was declared with the configure command.

I can put libmysqlclient.so.6 into /usr/lib, but that's not my preferred place for it. I'd much rather have the libphp4.so look in the location indicated by the configure command.

Add the path where libmysqlclient.so.6 is into LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable.
