A feature request to implement HTTP stream content compression in the following 
scenario:

If a HTTP context is created with "protocol_version" = 1.1, send 'Accept-Encoding' 
header and if the server responds with "Content-Encoding" header - 
handle/decompress content. While this functionality can be implemented in PHP-
userland - it would be great to have it built-in.

I guess this feature could be totally transparent and, for example, should be 
silently disabled if zlib is not available.

Given that there was no feeback for more than ten years, I'm
closing as WONTFIX.  If you're still interested in the transparent
(de)compression, please pursue the RFC process[1].
